Rathfarnham's Devaney wins Formula 3
- 14 May 2004
Rathfarnham has many sporting heros such as
Padraig Harrington, Paul McGinley and Damien Duff, however there may be another.
Last week at Oscherslaben in Germany, Michael Devaney from Rathfarnham, became
the youngest Irish man ever to win a Formula 3 race.
Michael has been
racing for years and has been crowned 'Motorsport Ireland Racing Driver of the
year' twice so far. Things are looking optimistic for the young 19 year old, the
German Formula 3 series has produced many F1 drivers in the past, such as
Michael Schumacher, Jos Verstappen, Jarno Trulli and Nick Heidfeld.
Michael led most of the 18 lap race and took the win by 4.373 seconds
from Germanys Thomas Holzer and Timo Lienemann. Michael's next big race is on
the 22/23 May in Assen, Holland, we wish him the best of luck.
